I teach/tutor English-As-Second Language, English Language Arts, social studies, civics, government, political science, and help people prepare for the US citizenship naturalization test. I also teach animal rights theory, humane education, and the history of social movements. I see it all tied up like this: My classes are focused on appreciating the amazing, beautiful world in which we live and the incredible human and animal lives with whom we share this miraculous planet. My classes focus on helping us learn to live together in better ways and to create change that makes better ways possible.
My teaching is focused on the success of each individual student and their learning goals. My goal as a teacher is to help my students develop their own understanding, give them skills and knowledge that will help them to make their world a better place for themselves, their society and every creature with whom they share this moment in the universe.
I am grateful in the knowledge that the relationship of student and teacher is one that often has learner and educator switching roles, and I embrace every opportunity to learn from my students.
